Project

One property was heated by LPG and the other by oil. The clients were looking to reduce a combined heating bill of £4,500 a year. In order to minimise installation and running costs a district heating project was designed and installed by ourselves to provide heat and hot water to both properties from the same boiler.

Boiler

Froling P4 pellet 60kW

Solution

The wood pellet boiler was located in an outbuilding and heat conducted to each house through a highly insulated underground pipe. Individual heating and hot water controls were supplied to each house along with a weather compensation system. An innovative individual wireless room control system was also installed, giving each room control over its own temperature and heating times and the whole installation was completed within 3 weeks. Switching to wood pellet heating meant that the project made savings on LPG and oil. However, combined with the predicted RHI payments, the total savings will be £10,500. Predicted fuel and running costs are £3,600, leaving the owners £6,900 better off each year.
